The winds of time continue to blow through the branches of my own family tree. Can not believe it but, just a few days ago, my youngest daughter (Ellen) turned 45 years of age. This event brought to mind that even now, my oldest grandson (Sam), has completed his first year of college. Say what! Youngest daughter reaching 45 years and, oldest grandson completing 1st year of college! Hold on indeed!
Let's see now, it was during Ellen's 30th birthday that my connection between these two was posted (August 15, 2010) titled "It's Alive". Then Sam was shown with my Dad (his great-grandfather) on post titled "Go Fish" (January 31, 2011). Then again, Sam at 5 years of age, sent me a rainbow drawing much like his own mother's (my eldest daughter) had drawn during her childhood days posted as "A Rain Bow Gene" (March 23, 2011). Well, then came my most precious drawing (memory) of Sam's dragon! (January 10, 2014) It was on his 13th birthday that this dragon drawing was returned to Sam with my council to still believe in dragons (October 4, 2018).
Well, here I am now some seven years later, wanting to ask Sam after completing his first year of college, what is his thinking about dragons? (Please use the comment section of this post if you want.) Well here goes, Sam I Am, what do you think? Love ya, Grampaw.
Dragons have always been a part of visiting Nana and Grandpas house from the dragon in the stained-glass window, the Welsh flag hanging upstairs, and my own drawings. The house was a place where the imagination could flourish and run wild and where dragons could exist. As college student I hope to study abroad in Europe and follow Grandpas map to my ancestors Llangollen Wales! I might even see a dragon along the way ;-)
ReplyDeleteSee the world Sam. Nana and I will be by your side along the way in your memories and imagination. P.S., please say hello for me to any dragon that might cross your path along your future roads of life.
ReplyDeleteFor those who might have an interest in the story of the "Red Dragon" see my post of June 27, 2013. It is titled "A Stitch In Time" and gives the account written by a fellow named Nennius around 829 A.D.! The "Stitch" is done by my middle daughter who sent the needle work with her love included.
ReplyDeleteThe red dragon stained-glass remembered by Sam in his comment above, has been shown at each post of this blog! Starting July, 2010 in the upper right, the scan (per sinister) faces to the left indicating that this old, red dragon from the "Bluegrass of Kentucky", faces back to send thanks to that much older red dragon of Nennius (ca. 829 A.D.) coming to life in my ancestor's imagination.
